Hi there, i brought a GP about 2months ago now, drove it home and she threw up the p0401 error, cleaned the egr, throttle body, and replaced seals, this stopped the code from popping for about 20miles, and pop, up she came, had another look replaced seals Again, and she was clean as a whistle, any idea what else could cause this to pop, p.s when i re-attached the second time she instantly threw the fault! been following your guides and i thought it was about time i tried to get an answer

could the MAF need a clean, (if you can clean it!) or do you think i just need a new one (egr)

right then, she has now started throwing the p0403 one in the air, does that confirm that the egr is dead? any input would be vastly appreciated (she throws both codes on start-up doesn't do the usual drive for 10 mins and the p0401 comes up...)

Hi i had to change mine never had a fault come up but 1 day all power was gone and it wud only do 20mph in black smoke, done 20k on new obe so far

Sounds to me like the solanoid in the egr has gone, that is what happened with mine. Mechanicaly mine was fine not even that dirty but when i took it apart i noticed that the solaniod was jammed, when i put 24v dc across the connections nothing happened.

yeah cleaned the solinode (can't spell) and the pin was moving 2mm with a little click, so my guess is that its kaput! off to buy a new one I go! Cheers Guys (mines not smoking, its never smoked?)

Hey Fella's ,

Just took the solanode off and checked the connectivity, positive and so checked with a 9v battery, no response then with a car battery charger, no response. blocked the egr, resulting in picking up easier in low revs, and keeping a constant speed in 6th easier,

will remove the block when i buy a new egr!
