Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but has anyone seen the new Fiat Stilo web site...

http://www.fiatstilo.com/

Looks a very advanced car... for fiat anyway... reads like a Renault car... keyless car, rain sensors etc etc

What does everyone think?!?!?!?!

Thanks
Matt

"advanced car....for fiat anyway..."? They're more advanced than you'd think

Fiat have quietly been more advanced than probably any other car manufacturer. Here's some "interesting" bits of trivia

FIAT (NOT Renault. It bugs me when people say Renault invented the people carrier. They didn't. They simply made the idea popular.) invented the people carrier with the 600 Multipla.

As early as the early 50's, Fiat had a transverse engined, front wheel drive prototype for what was to become the Fiat 500. Sadly it was dropped in favour of rear engine layout. If they proceeded with this, the Mini wouldn't have had the impact it did.

The Fiat 124 was the first car to have disc brakes all round.

The Fiat 128 was the first car to combine front wheel drive transverse layout coupled to all-independant suspension.

They invented the supermini class of car with the 127. It was one of the first small cars with a hatchback body.

The Uno was the first car to have a smooth wing, a-pillar and door fit with the complete lack of rain gutters on the side to give it a smooth edge leading to the roof.

They are one of the first manufacturers to offer for sale a hybrid car - the Marea BiPower and Multipla BiPower. They've also offered electric cars for sale in Europe - Panda Elletra, Cinquecento, Seicento etc...

There is more I could add but i wont bore you.

regards,
Paul
