Hi, am currently attempting to ft my fusion sub that was extremely easy to fit in my rover into the new stilo

I have come across two problems that I have more than frustrated myself trying to solve

1. I cannot find a grommit hole behind the glovebox to get the wires and little amp fusebox through

2. I cannot seem to get it to ground in the boot, will a screw definitely go into the metal by the spare tyre in the boot?

I searched but could not find anything so any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance.

I cant post links as its a PITA on the phone but check a threas called "stilo ice" in the stilo section that should give you some guidance.

A screw wont be enough for a good earth. You need to drill a hole and use a nut and bolt.

That not really an ideal place. Its only designed to earth the small amount of power the cluster. A small amp im sure that you will get away with it but anything reasonably large could cause problems.

Thanks for all the help! using the i.c.e thread ive managed to get it all done to the point of fitting the CD player, the sub is wired up to everything in the cd and connected to the battery but when i turn on the power neither the sub or cd turn on :(

I thought this might be because in the white connector to the fiat electrics for the CD not all pins match the ones for the CD player, would this be right as im in the process of trying to change them around!

also with these things:

Its a built in sub and amp and the amp isn't that big no, its the same sorta place I had it in my rover, is there that much difference with the fiat?

In my rover it was fine, its a nice large industrial screw that fills the whole of the hole for the grounding. is this going to be a problem with the fiat?

Thanks again for all the help!

you won't get a signal to the amp until the headunit is in and sending a signal down the remote wire. I would have thought you would at least have a light on the amp.

Well a screw will not be very likely to stay in place. It can quite possibly become loose. If your not grounding the power that your putting in then things will go boom and possibly up in flames. Just because this didnt happen in your last car it still had the potential too. A bolt you will have no problems with. Ideally you should use a grounding post but a bolt will do.

Its the same story with using bolt holes around the cluster. It may not send the car up in flames but it still has the potential to.

As for the Hu not powering up you need to unplug the red wire and plug into the spare yellow.

If your looking for an earth in the boot, take out that flappy coverthing to gain access to the strut top, at the front and back of the strut tops there are strengthening plates with holes in them... put a 10mm headed bolt through them holes and then use a ring connector on the end of ya earth wire :)

btw scrape a lil bit of paint off first.

i got me remote lives from the 12v socket, then jsut ran the wire upto behind the glovebox, one splice goes to me HU and the other splice goes to the sub as my Aldi HU dont have a remote out....but it does have a sub out lol

Thanks for all your help but with searching i found a year old thread on the kenwood and did what you said to put the red wire into yellow and it worked perfectly!

I think im slowly growing to love this stilo. . .
