Hello,

i have a 1.6 stilo hatchback, 5 door.

its running cold, only getting 1/4 of the way on the dial, and the heater in the car doesn't get warm at all.

i assume this is a failed thermostat... but the Stilo being a stilo just thought i should ask if it could be anything else, and if so how can i test.

is the thermostat an easy change? will it become obvious when im there, and are there any other bits i will need to change at the same time.
(there is nothing worse than taking the car apart, and then not having a little part that needed to put it back together)

thanks

Yes mate that will be a knackered stat... As for how easy it is, i dont have a clue.

Cant imagine Theres much more to it really i think the stat is kinda on its own but i stand to be corrected! I tend to put a smear of grease on the gasket it helps with holding it onto the housing upon refitting.

Mine started doing this a few months ago - there's a thread somewhere - seems to be a pretty common problem. Doesn't affect performance or mpg, and there's still enough heat to warm the car up on colder days, albeit not as fierce as you'd really want. JTD thermostats are £50 at carparts4less, double that everywhere else. Don't know about fitting.
