Hi guys,

I've searched through the forum but not found a definite answer to this so here goes:

I have a 2007 multijet 150 sporting stilo. The alternator went about 2 months ago and both the alternator and battery were replaced. Since then (including while the car was faulty) the mileage starts to flash after turning the ignition on and waiting for all checks to complete. It continues to flash once the engine is started.

I've tried disconnecting the battery overnight but nothing changes.

I had the car to a local garage and asked if they could do a diagnostic. The only error showing was low battery. I asked if he could do a proxi alignment (he has a solus system) but he said it wouldn't let him do it for some reason.

I've checked the battery voltage and it's 12.7 volts with ignition off and 12.5 volts with ignition on, prior to starting the engine.

I could take it to the nearest Fiat dealer but not totally convinced the could fix itand I don't want to end up with a massive bill.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

ah sorry... MES = Multi ECU Scan. its effectively dealer level diagnostics for anything fiat related.

now, if your gonna keep your stilo its probably well worth investing in (if you have a laptop) the free version will read and clear codes of all the major ECUs and the paid version will read all the spurious ECUs and allow you to perform a Proxi Alignment. all in with all the appropriate cables etc you'll be looking at under £100 which in most dealers is how much they'll charge just for reading the codes with the 'Examiner' let alone performing any adjustments etc etc.

I have the same with my Stilo, plus it tells me my parking sensors have failed, that would be ok if there was any in the car lol, also when driving at around 70, well just a bit above on the motorway for around 30 minutes it will alert me to an engine fault, then go off after a minute or two, then come on again and so on. But the engine hasn't fallen out yet so thats a good thing (y)

Could it not be simply due to the car being due for a service?
The dealers always program the next service in mileage done.

I'm certain it's do with when the alternator failed. The car went mental coming up with just about every error imaginable but all the other errors cleared when I had the alternator replaced and the new battery fitted. The flashing started then and has not stopped since. I used to have a Stilo abarth that used to do the same thing randomly but it would always clear itself next time the car was started.... this bugger won't! It doesn't bother me as I know there's nothing really wrong with the car but I'm selling it and I don't want the purchaser thinking there's a major problem with the car.
