Have you checked the water level?
What age is the car and how many miles has it done?

Checked to see if the heater works on different settings (ie - onto screen/feet/face etc)?

Is your water pump pushing enough water around the system? Are your inlet and outlet hoses from the heater box blocked? Check the diverter water valve which works off a thermostat is working correctly.

JTD's are prone to the impellar falling off inside the water pump, but you often get over heating of the engine with that.
What does the temperature gage do? It should go up to half and stay there. If it goes above half, or always sits below half, you have a problem with engine cooling, otherwise suspect the heater itself.
