How's it going folks, I'm normally around the Stilo section but I thought I'd come here as yous will probably be more experienced when it comes to this
I have a 1.2 Stilo, I need to replace the head gasket and have weighing up my options as to what I can do whilst the head is off. I was maybe going to fit the Stilo 1.4 engine but I've recently heard that I can swap bottom ends with a 1.4 and get around 100bhp with standard 1.2 ecu map. Is this really the case? Isn't the bore of the cylinder bigger on the 1.4?
I would like to try this! Is it straight forward or is there a fair amount of work involved in swapping the blocks? I don't see any practicalities in trying to lug a 1.4 engine in my boot over to a garage for them to do it all??
I have a straight through exhaust, 4-2-1 decat manifold and induction kit on my 1.2, what sort of gains could I get if I swap the blocks? Ive read of 115bhp being achieved with the standard 1.4 engine with induction kit? Also what if I port/ polish the 1.2 head before swapping?
Cheers for any advice
Mark
