I'm thinking of buying a 3 door stilo but one of my worst fears haunts me. That it will get a facelift right after I receive the car so I basically pay the same price for a un-face lifted version. Does anyone know, is Stilo in the process of receiving a facelift these months/ year (beginning of 2006)? Another issue is it going out of production. Anyone knows if Fiat is planning that?

such pressure my god, my god  :)

I think ime correct in saying that there is a new model planed sometime in 2006 the last facelift I think was 2004 on the 5 dr they redisigned the boot/tailgate not sure about 3dr though hope that helps a little (y)

I believe that the Stilo replacement will arrive in late 2006 (autumn) and it will be a new car (not just a facelift of the current Stilo).

Because of that, i don't think the current Stilo will have another facelift. And it will not go out of production, until the replacement is here.
PNL is correct about the latest facelift (2004). Only the 5dr was changed in a big way (and it wasn't even that big a change). The 3dr still has the same front and rear as it had when it was first introduced. The main changes has happened where you can't see it; such as fixing small tech. and mech. problems.

Here’s what I found on the new stilo, coming late 2006 or 2007. Anyone have a precise date on that ?

When I took.........................

my Stilo for it's annual service I enquired about the new model, it was due to be launched in February 2006 and should reach our shores by June/July 2006 according to the salesman.

Hope this information helps!

Re: When I took.........................

And from what i've read the "New" Stilo will be little more than a Focus underneath! So buy a Stilo now, with soft comfortable suspension and ok handling, or wait and get the "New" Stilo and expect good handling but a numb bum after 5 miles!

If the "new" stilo is going to be like another car, it's going to be like an astra, as it maybe will be build on the same platform as the astra, not the focus (or it could be build on an evolution of the current platform), the info available is a little sketchy on this subject. The only sure thing is that it's austrian company Magna-steyr which is in charge of designing and engineering the next stilo (http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/financial/06/magna_steyr/2806.html)
The only cooperation (at the moment) between fiat and ford will be the next 500 and the next ford ka.

Fiat is already using opel petrol engines (the 1,8 and 2,2 in the Croma) and the next corsa will use the same platform as the new grande punto.

Re: When I took.........................

Most likely they will continue with an updated C platform that they spent alot of money on for the Stilo.
Since the fallout with GM I cant see there being a wish to use the Astra's platform, As things are at the moment, the Punto/Corsa, Croma and the Sedici where all projects started long before the put option was forced upon GM.

Re: When I took.........................

Gee a A6/147 cut and shut with GM floor pan... ooh I can't wait! Is the motor industry really in this much bother? Oh hang on a second... there's bits of 307 rear end in there too and if you remove A6 full grille and add full width bumper it looks like fabia's big bro...

Re: When I took.........................

Just read again the other day of a major possible tie up between Ford and Fiat, seeing as General Motors is on its arse at the moment i'm sure Fiat would like to associate with Ford.

Ford think working with Fiat will be good for both firms, Fiat make good small cars, Ford make good medium/large cars so they can stroke each others backs!

Re: When I took.........................

Fiat and Ford do have an agreement in place over a shared small car platform, Ford wish to use the Cut down Panda platform that Fiat are going to use on the New 500 to create a replacement for the KA

Re: When I took.........................

I know developement costs are high and collaborations happen (type 4 - Croma/9000/Thema & ? - Uly, Galaxy, Agila etc.) but shame we loose out on variety and brand identity goes. When I had my Serena couldnt help but feel Nissan's showroom was filling with Renault clones! Think cars are becoming more like white goods (fridges/freezers/washer machines etc.) where one is pretty much like another, does the job but nobody becomes emotionally attached to them and the only way to stand out in a crowd is to pay through the nose for one! (Sorry... I will go take my medication now! LOL)
