in the last 2 weeks alone,i've had the parking sensor, rain sensor, steering wheel audio controls, aircon, rear window heater,re circulating fan fail:cry: also,i cannot set the time and date and the mile readout just flashes.would all these probs be connected? the fuses seem ok. any help please(y)

from wat i have read some thing todo with adding a new "node" (ecu) and proxy alignment needed now?
only what i have read though. if it is this then fes is the way forward :)

no i haven't,but i had the mot done in october, would it have been checked then?

had the battery checked out and altho it wasn't 100%,the mechanic said it wasn't in a bad condition.so if it's not the battery causing the electrics meltdown, what will it be?

How did he check the "Condition" of the Battery. Did he put a known good one in after to compare discharge times?

I had a battery that perfectly happily floated at 12.5 volts and charged at the voltage it was given but output low amps causing problems with the system it was running.

i think(not too sure) that he just tested it with a portable tester,he tightened the contacts because one was loose apparentely. i 'll go to another garage for a second opinion. thanks.

take the battery off and go to auto factors shop, they will do a correct test, from the sounds of it what others have said are spot on, one of our cars had excatly the same problems last year when the battery failed, from memory it was holding approx 12volts but as soon as load was applied it was dropping to 7-8 volts - that will cause all the problems as the ecu on the stilo has very little tolerance on voltages.
how old is the battery?

well instead of getting the battery tested and spending money. i would get another battery from another car and try that. if it works then it's your battery and if not then you need to plug it up to a diagnostics

And if you need another battery, get one that is more powerful than what you have.

That is what I would do, and plus its free.

and that means what exactly? haven't had chance to go out and have the battery properly checked due to illness.

Open the fuse compartment, you need to take out whole case, the case with the fuses behind comes out. Behind the fuses is another case. Take apart fuses from that. Inside is the Body Control Unit. Gently open the case. Look at the electronic board to see if it is dry.

Best advice take it to an electrician and tell him to do that. If you have a radio with code, better prepare the code after mounting it up again.

???? i think your sending the op off in the wrong direction, the faults that are occuring are excatly the faults that occur when the batterys fail.
all stilos are coded, but they are recognised on the can network, you shouldnt need the code unless there is 1 a serious issue with the ecu, or two you move the stereo to another car.

had the battery checked today with engine running and the voltage did drop to about 4-5 volts, bought a new one and......still the same:bang: all the electrics which weren't working still don't work. help:confused:

The body computer is in the car under the dash, not in the engine bay!

If the voltage at the battery terminals is only 4-5 volts when the engine is running, it sugests the alternator isn't working or there'a a problem with the wiring or connections between the battery and alternator.
