Hi all, new to the site thought it would be a good place to join as I am thinking about purchasing an Abarth. I have up to £5k for one and wondered if other owners could let me know there thoughts on these cars. The 5 door would be more practical but somehow it is the 3 door that I find more appealing to look at. I will read through the site to try and find any pitfalls with these cars as all cars do have them but if people would let me know of any that will be appreciated. I am going to look at a 3 and 5 door tomoz but will not purchase anything untill I have done my homework on them. :) Thanks in advance for any responses to this post I am looking forward to a long stay on here....Best regards, John.;)

Welcome to here and the stilo massive :slayer: you will get all the advice you need down on the stilo boards but just to give you a taster dont buy an Abath and get the jtd ..you have been warned

5doors can look every bit as good as 3drs and you have the added doors that fiat forgot to add to the 3dr ..plus in a recent vote on here the 5dr won over the 3dr ..I rest my case :slayer:

To be honest it is all about personal preference. I have looked and looked at both styles and my preference is the 3 door. But having said that the 5 door would be more practical. I think I need to see both styles in the flesh so to speak. The 3 door is more sporty in appearence where as the 5 is more grown up. ( this is just my opinion and I haven't even got one yet). Can somebody tell me what a years tax is on the Abarth as I have lost touch with all the new taxation classes. (y)

I bought an abarth last year i totally love the car personnaly id go for 3 door every time whatever the car the 3 door abarth is lower than the 5 door version.Things to be wary of as i have noticed are 1,the dodgey suspension, coils are prone to packing up so far i have had 1 go at £40 a throw and theres 5.Tax is £205 for year, also it can be a bit thisrty but i find its pretty good on a long run but im a sod for putting foot down at lights lmao. You could buy mine i might sell if you interested been well looked after just had cam belt done at 29,000 miles.Let me know im in wolvehampton.Im thinking of a diesel but only if i get right offer for my motor.:)

Thanks for all replies and answers to tax question. (y)

Lee, can you let me have details as I am looking at buying a 3 door. Things like service history. how many owners etc. Do you have the key codes for it and how much T+T is on it. Is it a selespeed and does it have leather, what year is it and finally how much are you looking for it. Cash is ready for the right car. I ideally want an 03 onwards. Cheers. :D

3 door, serviced up to date, two owners, yes, till November/August, yes, yes (cream), 2003, $18,000 (It's here in Hamilton, New Zealand) :D

Good choice with the Abarth, it sounds better and goes faster than the others. Two of the issues that are always raised are fuel and oil consumption.

Mine uses very little oil (half a litre a year) and I get an average of 8.5L/100km which is 33mpg (a mix of town and country driving), others here get about 12L/100km, but I've always found it to be a pretty economical car for the performance on tap.

The worst feature of the Stilo I'd have to say would be the ride and handling compared with some of the other cars I've owned, so make sure you test-drive thoroughly. You may like it... or not...?

Cheers Alex, what do you mean by "how the car handles?) What type of ride are they, too firm/soft or body roll?
