I had an engine fault "oil level low - stop engine" come on yesterday when I went round a corner. I thought, cr@p... must be a fault with the computer. I only had my first service 3500 miles ago so there must be plenty of oil. Then I thought I'd better check just in case. Got home, got the dipstick out, and to my horror.... no oil at all!!!!!

No signs of oil leaks on the drive, I'm not blowing dirty clouds of smoke.... did the dealership just not fill it up, or does it really drink that much oil? The 1st 12000 miles I had no problems with low oil level etc.

Anyone else had any experience with this?

They do drink a bit - really you should check it every 500 miles. When the oil breaks down it burns it a lot quicker too.

If it was off the dipstick then you are down over 1 litre

Hi, I find mine use's approx 1 litre per 1000 miles, I do 350miles a week and i've learn't to check it regularly!, Thought this was a bit worrying at first but not now i've checked with a few people on the forum, Top it up!!
