Over the last couple of weeks, my Stilo Abarth's been doing something a bit strange.

All of a sudden when your driving along in say 1st or 2nd gear at low rev's, it starts making a series of loud short burbles and loses all power. If you really hit the accelerator hard, it'll eventually clears itself or does eventually go on it's own. On top of this, when you pull away in first gear from a standstill, it has a habit of just loosing all power, then gets it back a few seconds later. Any ideas on the possible cause of this?

p.s. This morning I got the engine fault light (first fault light in 8 months of ownership!) It came on, the car lost power, did lots of short loud burbles and then cleared itself and went off!

Re: Stilo Abarth - Miss Firing

I had this problem with mine when i first got it, first of all one of the injectors was misalined, then when they fixed it they found it was fooked, and then when they replaced that one, it had some sort of blockage in it, so they cleaned the injector and hey presto, working fine again.

Thats good to know! The last thing I want is for it to be a big job. They've not got a courtesy car, and because the engine warning light came on they insisted that it was done ASAP. That means I've got to sit around and wait until they've fixed it.

Re: Stilo Abarth - Miss Firing

sounds like an ignition coil which is pretty dangerous. First if the engine vibrates like a tractor in low and mid range revs its that. Second dont push the engine by revving high you will screw up the engine that way. Second you run a fire risk since no fuel is ignited in one of the chambers and is blown back through the catalytic converter. Also you risk damaging your catalytic converter. If you can have a truck tow your car would be the best thing. if you are about 5 klm away from the service place drive it but really slow and dont push the engine. THe problem can be easily fixed by just removing and placing a new ignition coil if the damage is limited to only that. Now if you prolonged to fix it since the problem has occured and more damages came up because of this then............................ cross your fingers
