Hi All,

My Abarth keeps forgetting it’s time and date overnight.

Is it likely to be the battery? It does start fine?

Thanks in advance
Ross

If the battery is okay then it could be the brains of the instrument console starting to go funny. I presume your MPG and Trip readings get re-set as well?

They are indeed. Keep getting a “low oil pressure sporadically at startup” but oil isn’t low.

Low oil pressure could still occur, even with a decent oil level... but your oil pump would have to have failed at exactly the same time as you had an instrument glitch... which sounds unlikely.

If you charge the battery up overnight (even if it seems fine otherwise) and the problem doesn't happen for a day or two.. then it could be the battery. If yours is old or just lagging around 12V rather than 12.3 or more... then a new one could solve the problem.

If you're really, really sure it can't be the battery then it's the console.

A "new" one would be a straight swap but you would need to do a proxy alignment to get the car to recognise the new instruments (although everything would work - just the mileage would flash).

Or, to avoid the "new" clocks failing in a few months' time (they're the same age as yours, after all) then look up the fella Yellowstilo on here. He can fix clocks for cheaper than the people who advertise on eBay etc. He's in Holland (so courier the clocks to him rather than using the mail...) but otherwise he can fix you up and you won't need a proxy alignment afterwards.

He fixed my JTD clocks a couple of years ago nearly.. and they're still fine (if that isn't the kiss of death  ).
