Technical Stiff gear stick, help please

I need help. I hope someone know the answers :-(

Gear knob is stiff while moving left and right. No problems up and down. So, there are two cables, one for left/right movement and another one for up/down movement. Obvious thing to replace cable, but is it really the case? I disconnected cables of gear selector in engine compartment, photo attached. I can move selector by hand easily (green marked), however red marked one which goes there down in to gearbox and up is stiff when I push in, it stays in, similar like connected gear knob, which I move left, it stays left, well...it slightly go back to original position, but only a bit. Is there any adjustment like a spring? Is it cable for real? Or gear selector unit in gearbox has a problem? Anyone had this sort of problem?

I know on pandas usually solved by cleaning up the lever linkage on the gearbox if its similar there is a thread on panda 2012 section on this forum

Thanks. I have seen Grande Punto, Panda, but it was not the same. Just now after your post I check deeply and I found some very similar or the same. It looks like it depends which engine is fitted? Or part of the world? I don't know, but I'll go in few hours time outside to try fix it and confirm. Thanks.
