A few times now my clutch pedal has stick down at the floor - I pull it up and it's fine, Martyn saw this today. Anyway, would the clutch slave cylinder have anything to do with this??

I'm thinking I'm gonna get the sports clutch done in October so I was thinking changing the slave at the same time...worth doing??

Sounds like it.

The slave cylinder is a common failing point 145/6 and 156's

Are there any fluid leaks?

The gearbox contains the fluid so you won't see any leaks untill too late.

The hydraulic system is very simple so the slave cylinder is the most likely (and cheapest) candidate.

Will this also cause a stiff gear stick?? I had the linkages lubed up a couple of months back but it seems to be getting worse, tis a pure pain to get into 3rd gear.

That could be clutch drag (does it grind in or just not want to go in?) Which can be caused by the slave cylinder.

does pumping the pedal a few times make the shift easier?

It doesn't want to go in but then the stick only moves if I move it you know what I mean, tis really stiff. Not tried pumping the clutch, will do so when I get home.
