Stereo probs

Hi, I've tried to put in a sony head unit in my mk1 punto. Only prob is when you turn it on the volume is allways set to max. You can turn it down ok, but when you try to turn it up again it'll gradually go back up to max volume I've read something on the forumn ('Common ICE problems with FIAT'), but to be honest, I don't realy understand it. I'm a newbie to not only this briliant forumn, but to cars in general So any help would be very much appreciated!

hey again ,,,mine did that for a bit in my bravo,,but i got crazed with it,so i just got my alpine fitted,,but im sure some 1 on here will help u better than me,,so good luck,

Is this a new headunit?

Doesnt sound like a wiring fault, seems more of a problem with the headunit itself

Hey there! Is this a new or used headunit? Could the headunit be at fault? Otherwise perhaps someone else can tell you to switch some wires round that may cure the problem

Its not a new headunit as it was my boyfriends till i bought him a new one. But i know it works cos its now back in his old rover. I might try a non sony one in it. Any more ideas, please let me know. Thanks for the help

Yeah, try a different make of head unit... If that doesn't work it must be your wiring, and if it does Bob's your Uncle! And you have your tunes back!
