STEREO BACKLIGHT PROBLEM

Hi there

Anyone ever had a problem with stereo backlight staying on permanently ?( T reg Bravo 1.6 sx )

Mine is constantly flattening my battery and I have to remove the fuse, (which also disables central locking etc) every night.

what a pain:mad:

Have you tried switching the red and yellow wires that go into the headunit?

hi, new to this forum but not to car forums in general.ive popped on here to try and find a solution to a similar problem to what was started in this thread,so i apologise for the flying visit and dragging up a 6 year old thread!!! lol but this seemed to be the best looking site :D

1st things 1st, my names Dane, from the Lichfield (midlands) area, dont own a fiat :s (its my bosses),Ford petrol head (yes those rust buckets :( )

ok formallitites out the way................... the problem is the green screen and surrounding digits etc stay lit up green after the engine has been stopped and the keys taken out,ive been told it has drained the battery on a number of occasions

The wires that are being refered to above, where exactly are they and are they easy to change around? and could there be any other reason as to why this happening.

your help / advise would be greatly appreciated

Dane

Hi welcome to the Forum.
Im confused are you saying that you drive a ford but helping with a Bosses Fiat?

If its a Fiat then its because there is no switched live. You have a couple of options. If its all working then the Ignition live will be connected to the permanent live on the Head Unit wiring loom.
The simple answer would be to splice a wire from the ignition with an inline fuse and then put that on the ignition wire of the HU loom.

Another way would be to put a Switch inline to the ignition wire on the head unit which will kill the power to it. I like this rout as it means you dont have to have the ignition on to use the Head Unit but you do need to switch on/ off every time.

If its for a ford i would have to think about that some more. I have only really come across this problem with cars that dont have a switched live
