How do you remove the steering wheel?

Discharge the airbag (leave battery disconnected overnight) and then remove the airbag with the screws on the back of the wheel - you may have to remove the column shroud to access, but you may be able to get to them by just turning the wheel - and disconnect the electrics. Even with the electrics disconnected, be careful with the airbag - don't put your face in front of it when you're working, they go off with a big bang and will hurt. Store it safely out of the way face up until you're ready to refit.

Then just undo the nut in the middle of the wheel and pull.
