Hello. I was cleaning my grubby ivory steering wheel using saddle soap and a microfibre cloth. Noticed a 3cm line in the leather and thought it was a mark I'd made. Rubbed it gently and now the crack has spread(discoloured the immediate area) and I am getting annoyed and concerned. Could I have unwittingly gone through the surface? I wasn't putting much pressure on. Has this happened to anyone else? Loath to keep at it in case it spreads further. Its unsightly now and directly at the 'top' of the wheel so right on the eyeline. Help!

I restored an old steering wheel which was badly cracked by enlarging the cracks, making them quite deep, using a Dremel tool, then filling them with 2 part plastic metal, (the type that comes as a 'sausage roll' type of thing, where you cut a slice off and kneed it to a paste) The paste is pressed well into the cracks, sanded to contour when set, then spray painted with 2 pack. finished item was as good as new, even after 5 years. However 'leather' ???
