steering wheel controls have packed up

hi, having an issue with my little car. Its a fiat 500 only a 58 plate and a couple of days ago the steering wheel controls decided to stop working. The volume buttons still work and the mute button but all the controls on the right hand side do nothing. So i can no longer use my media player or hands free. its such a pain in the bum. Does anyone know where i can start to get these working again. They were working fine then for some reason they got stuck when i was listening to a certain song on the media player and now i can move it along and am sick of the same song!!!! HELP!!!!:bang:

ive just checked a really old post and it says about disconnecting the battery for approx 20 minutes in the hope that it resets itself, does this sound like something that will work?

Skydive, I think you've posted this in the wrong forum section. This is for classic 500s, not new ones.
