Technical Steering rack has slight free play detected at steering wheel (2.3 (a) (i))

Hi folks, got another Tipo to look at next week, looking at MOT history last year says

• Steering rack has slight free play detected at steering wheel (2.3 (a) (i))

I assume its electric power steering,

anyone got any suggestions as to possible fault ?

It's a bit vague TBF but they're not paid to diagnose it in the MOT , could be the steering rack itself, the mountings, steering column U/Js, outer track rod ends, trailing arms etc etc

They could have missed checking one of the above for play in detail , or a bit of play in any of those areas (that they passed) translates to a noticable play in steering wheel movement.

yes, could be anything down there, just thought I'd ask in case others had had simalar fault
