HI Guys,

Just got a Bravo 1.6 sx 51 plate with 42k.

The steering doesn't centre after turning, you actually have to turn it back. Not too much of a problem, you just can't be lazy.

Garage that I took it to for cambelt (after your advice of changing at 40k)said that he had seen one like it before and it is an electronics fault that only a dealer should do and would cost in the region of £400-£500!

Has anyone else seen this fault and what is the part that is needed?

BTW cambelt change cost £80. Even allowing for him to chase around to borrow the special tool for it.

Cheers,

Andy.

A 51 plate car should have had a cambelt change last year. Milage doesn't have that much to do with it at that age.

No electronics involved in the steering. Self centering is down to the tracking and free movement of the mechanical parts.

That's what I thought with regards to the steering, the mechanic was only relaying information that he had been told.

Got the cambelt changed because there was no mention of it in the service history, only ever basic servicing stamped as being done.
