Technical Steering knocking

Hi,

Less than 6 months ago I had a steering knocking noise at slow speed and it was found to be the top strut bearings and I've had both replaced and it cured the problem and also had a newer version fitted which I was told would stop it happening again and yet recently the exact same sounding problem is back, a knocking noise while turning at slow speed. Any ideas what else this could be?

Have you checked your springs? One could be broken or your drop links could be to blame.

Both front springs have recently been replaced.

Can you explain the noise more? I know knocking is normally the easiest term but is it like a wound spring twanging?

It's more of a clunking sound, as you turn the wheel slowly it repeatedly makes it and you can feel it slightly through the wheel. It's very evenly spread out and is constant but only at slow speed.

It could well be the top mounts again especially as its a low speeds!
