After a year with a Fiat Punto 1.2 60, I had today the famous chronic problem with the power steering. I went to park, I lost the power steering, the steering light went on and the steering was very heavy. I already know that the fixing will cost me dearly and a new column will cost ~ 300 €, outside labor hours. However, I have a Fiat Punto 1.2 16V Sport and the steering column did not give me problems until I "reformed" the car. I wanted to know the possibility of taking the steering column of the Sport to the current 1.2 and if it would be compatible.

Thanks in advance and pardon my poor vocabulary.

As long as its same setup coloumn parts - it should work

Okay in that case I'll unmount the column and see if it fits, thanks for the answer.

Btw, off-topic: The current 1.2 doesn't have the tachometer and the temperature gauge while the Sport has. Will the dashboard fit aswell? Thanks.

Yes - easy swap
But a few rules
New dash must have lower mileage than vehicle its been fitted too as you cant back track the mileage on a dash

2nd - you need to do a process called proxy alignment
Makes the dash talk to the car correctly
As itll flash mileage+clock and may have some odd lights/malfunctions even tho nowts wrong
MES (Multi ecu scan) full edition can do this

3 - start to miss that 30 and 50 and 70 is missing/hard to read ? (mk2b)

Ziggy

Then it's a no for me automatically because the other car has more mileage than my current one. Thanks anyways.

I'll try the steering column in the next few days and update the post.

U can swap the dash with higher mileage but it means car suddenly leaps forward alot depending on the dofference / u dont care / values not much anyway etc

The 1.2 Sport is from 2001, I'll have the same problem again. Any other way of fixing it without changing to a new one?

What dash u puttin in the car u wish it to be in?
Give me the car details
Brain mushy with heat

So, there's two things I want to change. The steering column and the dashboard.

The car that I'm taking the pieces from is a Fiat Punto 1.2 16V Sport from 2001 and the car that I'm fitting the pieces is a Fiat Punto 1.2 8V from 2000.

The thing is the steering column would end up having the same problem since the Sport is from 2001. So idk what to do.
