General starting

Hi,
I have a Fiat Ducato 2ltr JTD motorhome 2004 which I have just bought.
When I first start it in the morning it cranks over a while before starting after this it starts straight away. The preheat light only stays on for a second maybe two then go's off. Is this normal for this van. My old 1.9td preheat light stayed on longer and started straight away.Any help much appreciated.

If you turn the key to MAR for 10-15 secs before starting to let the lift pump prime does it start faster. If yes could be fuel filter or strainer or return hose leaking air.

If not you probably have clearance in your injectors so it requires longer to reach starting pressure in the rail. A leakoff test can help identity a bad injector.
