Hi, I have a Fiat Ducato 1900 on a 1999 Motorhome.

It started to occasionally "Click" on the key,
So i sent it to a Motorhome repairer as it needed other work, unbeknown to me he sent it to another garage to be fixed, anyway he replaced the starter, i had it back a few weeks when it seemed to "Jam". He took it back and replaced again.
Last year i returned from France and when at the Eurotunnel on starting it,it was spinning and would not turn off, by the time i disconnected the Battery it had burned out.
On my eventual return i contacted the same garage who refused to repair again, it was still in warranty. I then returned it to the Starter supplier who said they checked it out and the starter had no fault.
I bit the bullet and last week sent it to a local guy thinking a new starter is all required as i assumed it would be a electrical feed to the starter fault.

He has put on a starter and it is working fine (not stcking on, so no electrical fault) but is not engaging and he informs me that it will need a flywheel.
As i may now have a cost of £600 would this have been the fault of the starter.

Any advice much appreciated on the mechanics and any claim i have.
Thanks

Thanks.

Hard to Recall, but i think i had stopped and thought it was the Fan running but it was the starter spinning. Or i may have tried to start it.

It has done 60k miles.

This was the 2nd one the guy put on and i recall he said it was "hard to put on".

When the first time it failed it made a awfull grinding sound when tried to start.

I did raise did he get the correct one.

He refuses to even discuss it.

Thanks

Ignition switch on that era is likely suspect for sticking on Pull out the starter and see that the teeth on the flywheel are like, I'd rather file a stater pinion to fit than replace the flywheel.
