Standard keycode immobiliser

Just wondering before i start doing too much to my car is the standard keycode thing(1997 Punto,red key etc)gonna stop it going anywhere without me in it?Ive been thinkin about an alarm but very expensive when i look at the value of the car. How good is standard basically?

very good as far as imob's go. alarms are not really to stop the car getting nicked but to put people of smashing a window etc to see what they can get. if it saves one break in a basic alarm is worth its money

Leave your glovebox empty & open to view,majority of thefts these days are from scum smashing the passenger window & only looking in glovebox for credit cards which are worth more to a thief than a radio etc,worth £30 odd at the local pub!
Only problem is you need to store your McDonald straws,salt & ketchup satchets in the door pockets now
