Hey guys I'm just new on the forum some great pieces on this. I just wanted to know if it is normal for brakes to squeal after changing. I just changed the front discs and pads on my stilo and when driven on the motorway at high speeds the brakes are squealing. I'm just thinking about my work now and I'm wondering that if there is too much brake fluid in the brake bottle would that prevent the brake piston from coming off the pads.
Thanks
Peter

Back out with the pads and put copper grease/Red Grease behind the pads. Do these cars have shims? Thin metal plates that sit behind the pad, could you have forgot to replace them?

Ye I'll have to pull them off. Ye they Have shims and they were replaced because I remember giving them a clean before replacing.

I was just wondering about the piston as I just pushed it back and the level is now very high. Like tipping the cap.

Your fluid is fine. It will rise. As the pads ware down the fluid goes down. you put new ones in so the fluid is higher. If you have a low - full marker on the fluid reservoir and its over then take some out if you must. Use a clean rag to soak some out or a syringe if you have one. You are worrying over nothing. My bike squeals as well as I never had grease for the pads. Ill get some before I take it back out this year.

Problem sorted. I greased up the pads and it was still squeaking. Had a look around the disc and the dust cover on the back had bent onto the disc as I pushed the calliper on it looks and as I was driving it was just rubbing and squealing. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1390251785.429778.jpg

also can help if the pads are shamfered on both ends that can stop sqweeling
