Ive bought a front and rear bumpers for my car and i need to spray them. So ive found out the PPG color code and i rang up the paint shop and they said they have the exact color from PPG but they said that cellulose and 2pac have been replaced with water based. I have no experience using water based, can any one tell me how to apply it properly and what do i need? thanks.

Water base has to be used now for Health and Safety reasons. We have to use water base at college now. Basic it sprays out the gun exact the same. Bar from it does not have a gloss back when applied to car panels. Just looks matt. Again spray 6 inch away over lapping by 50%.

Mixing

Mixing same but instead of using Hardener just add touch of tap water. Check paint thickness before putting it into the gun. Dont want your gun clogged up.

Drying

Drying water evaporates and so does the water base paint. Dont bake it or apply heat. Just get a fan and dry it. It takes around 30mins in the booths in college so home spraying i would give hour.

Final Top coat/clear
Buy some clear cout you could use none water base but you run the risk of Paint reacting to different paint. The water based clear coat does need hardner. Well the stuff we use does. Again spray 6inch away 50% overlap. The clear coat will give you the gloss you are looking for.

Just remember water base does not gove gloss back when sprayed so you could do light passes and build it up to avoid runs.

Hope it turns out good :)
