hi guys i want to spray my centre console, i just wanted to know the main points that need to be done, to get a good result. E.g is rubbing the plastic down a good idea?

Many thanks

cheers, about the wet and dry ive heard a few people say that they have used scouring pads, what do you think about that idea?

Thanks.

what colour you thinking of? any bright colours you'll be best smoothing it off first, either with a belt sander or a black'n'decker style sander (like an iron shape) then skimming with filler.

You'll be ok if it's a dull colour with a scourer and some lighter fuel or panel wipe (gets rid of grease/oil/dust)

im sprayin it the azzuro blue, its quite a light blue the same colour in my picture, and slightly ligther than cellgms inside. Cellgm what did you use for rubbing down ?

Many thanks

rub down ? lol
err some wet and dry sand paper. just go over it till it changes from dark gray... to light gray..
then spray light coats, leave it 5 minuets then respray again..
this way u dont get no drips...
and light coats make it stick better =)

Nice work! :)
Light coats are definitely worth the extra patience required - it's very tempting to try and put all the paint on at once.

My Mk2 Punto (Sporting) has the centre console sprayed silver, but it's still textured. I reckon FIAT just spray the standard black console in silver. Wonder if they do any preparation...
