Technical Sporting emissions

just mot'd car & its failed the emissions test.
it passed the idle emissions but failed on 2nd fast idle
it failed on excessive hydrocarbon & carbon monoxide.
the mot'r said its the highest reading he's ever seen.
i cant find the emissions sheet but im sure he said it should be .7 or sumthing & it read 12
so whats the chances its just lambda sensor?
what else could cause it to be so high?

yeah the cats on. if the cat was knackered wudnt that effect all the emission tests not just 2nd fast idle?

In theiory it would affect the just the normal Idle, as a CAT is most effective, and really only designed for use when sitting in traffic (so I've been told).
