I'm new to forums and just have a few questions to ask, cheers.
I'm 18 and looking to buy my first car which will be a starjet (cannot afford to insure tjet or mjet ). I've found one that seems to be exactly what I'm after and I'd like to ask everyone if there are any common faults to either starjets or Sportings in General. Thanks a lot guys and i look forward to hearing from you

There is a sticky at the top of the forum that lists the common gp problems.

I don't think there are many starjet specific problems, I remember reading about flurry of gearbox problems with starjets 18 months ago but haven't heard of any since. Early sporting alloys (diamond cut finish) can corrode, thats all I can think of really.

ahh cheers mate. With the alloys, do the petrol alloys corrode? As i've heard of corrosion but thats just on the mjet ones.

Also how do i use this sticky? probably sounds stupid but i dont really know what im doing yet! haha

The alloys are the same on all early sportings. They are erroneously refered to as m-jet alloys, perhaps because most early sportings were m-jets, but my 07 t-jet has them.

A sticky is just a thread that has been 'stuck' in position at the top of the forum home page so it remains accessible.

im pretty sure im gonna get this one! just have to wait for the private plate to be transferred off! If only the DVLA were a bit quicker haha
