Hello Chaps and Chapets,

Unfortunately, my GPS Sporting 1.9 M-Jet gearbox (diff) let go big time today :(. Not surprised given the hard 100k miles that it has covered! Does anyone know if a box from an Astra/Vectra 1.9 CDTi 6 speed would do the job? I'm not too fussed about ratios as the Punto has more than enough torque to cope with taller ratios etc in my opinion. Any help hugely appreciated :).

Astra 1.9cdti 120 8v box will fit fine, exact same engine as the m-jet.

Astra 1.9cdti 150 16v box will fit fine too, M32 gearbox again.

I beleive Vectra's and Astra VXR's also use it. M32 is the code

Hi Lal B3N, thanks very much for the info. I take it the M40 is a no no then? I've seen lots of these on eBay. Cheers

Wouldnt like to say on the M40 dude, it might look the same and be completley different inside?

There should be plenty of M32 boxes available, i found loads when i was looking the other week.

I believe the M32 is a VX Gearbox lent to Fiat! Pretty sure it's in the Astra VXR with taller 6th ratio. Thanks for the input. ;-)

I always thought the M32 box was a Vauxhall unit. It has none of the rubber feeling the usual 5-speed fiat boxes used to have (Uno mk2, Punto, Bravo mk1 and mk2, Tipo) and the reverse gear is where Vauxhall has it since the 80's, including the 'ring' you lift before engaging it! Am I wrong in my assumption?
