Could someone help me my sport button isnt working, when i push it im not noticing the difference in torque anymore. it used to feel really fun to drive with it on but now it just feels the same without it on... Can anyone help?

Ive tried multiple garages and they say if no warning lights on the dash then the likeliness is theres nothing wrong and diagnostics wouldnt be able to tell!

Its worrying me as i really enjoy driving my abarth but recently its been boring to drive without that button..

Help would be much appreciated cheers(n)

Does it boost at all? Can you hear the turbo spooling up/reaching max RPM?

Should have the boost gauge up on the screen, unless you have turned it off in the menus (think you might be able to do this) or are on a mpg/trip computer page.

I would start there as a diagnosis point, otherwise I would suggest maybe the pressure bleed valve is stuck open/broken on the turbo. The electronic waste gate, they have been known to be a weak link on the ones that have had increased boost.

Do you have a TMC box or anything else installed/ have you had a remap at all?

the turbo is still boosting slightly, but to be honest it just feels like a t jet. you dont hear the turbo spooling as you should with the abarth. i will try the boost gauge. no i havent got anything installed at all.

So it is sound exactly like what I suggested is wrong with it. Obviously this is all "internet Diagnosis"

But its pointing to a failed electronic wastegate (cannot remember the exact name of it), it is controlled by the ECU to bleed off excess pressure. If stuck open, you will only be able to get a much smaller boost pressure than usual (Hence feeling like its down on power/torque)

There have been examples on other Abarths where this part had broken/stuck open and there were no dashboard lights illuminated.

Is it still more eager with the sport button on in relation to fueling?

If it all else seems the same then it will be boost related, so check all the pipework for leaks/holes and then look at the electronic wastegate being at fault due to the reduced boost, I suggest this as a starting point if you are going to start replacing parts.

Hopefully this helps :)

Thank you very much, will get it booked into a garage to have a look but at least this gives me an idea of what could be wrong. thanks!!:worship:

The torque isn't massively noticeable after turning the button on, I've had mine for a year and probably turned it off maybe once! If you have it turned off and blip the throttle nothing will really happen but with it turned on if you blip the throttle you can immideately tell that's sports mode is on as it jumps and feels 'ready to go'. Try turning it off and driving about for a day then the next day turn it on. the difference isn't huge so may be imagining it! Other than that get a diagnostics tool plugged in for any error messages as said above!

I know for a fact theres a problem as the boost gauge is showing that the turbo is only boosting up to half way. I had a diagnostic done on it today and its not coming up with anything. Also, the wastegate is working fine so im not sure what else it could possibly be.

Ooer! That's a bit odd, have you checked all the boost pipes for loose collections and possible splits? Turbo may have cracked or possibly even manifold, have a good once over what you can access. If no issues on diagnostics it's almost definitely something under the bonnet. May be a long shot but I wonder if any astra vxr owners have had similar issues what with it having the sports button and the corsa being a similar car to the punto

EDIT: had a look about the astras and only thing I could find was it could be as simple as a blown fuse so may be worth checking them over also

Completely miffed on this one tbh, going to send it off to abarth in Edinburgh which is the closest one to me I think (n)(n)(n)(n)

Hiya mate, any news on what the issue is/was?

My AGP had an issue with the dump valve release spring going ages ago, nobody could figure out what was wrong with it so they had to fly out an Abarth engineer from Italy.

Maybe it's the same culprit with yours?

Ive not got a dump valve on mine, had it looked at in a garage and hes thinking it needs a new turbo(n) tried for leeks etc but nothing, thankfully ive got a warranty.
