All - we're thinking of changing the wifes Sedici for a Bravo - either a 1.4 T-Jet or the Multijet Sport. Any buyers advice appreciated with points to look out for...... (y)

Check the Cambelt history. Should be done every 4-5 years or 90k miles is what fiat quote but I would personally do it 3-4 years and 60k miles.

Check for a heavy clutch, unfortunately they can have awful gearboxes made by GM which cost a fortune to repair.

I think the newer 2.0 165 sports don't seem to have this issue but can have DPF problems if previous owners haven't driven the car as a diesel should be (ie 2 miles every day not allowing for regen or getting hot for extended periods).

Also on the 1.9 diesel 150 Sport look out for lack of power under 3000(?) revs - Could be signs of EGR issues.

Listen to the suspension for creaks and that, make sure you do some circles in a car park etc.

Double check service history has been followed the best you can, receipts etc are always good to see. The one I bought had only had an interim service every year before I bought it. First service cost me a bomb and could have caused underlying problems.

Thanks for the advice - Can you tell me the difference in kit between the T-Jet/MJ Sport and an Active Sport?

Thanks for the advice - Can you tell me the difference in kit between the T-Jet/MJ Sport and an Active Sport?

T-Jet - Petrol Turbo
M-Jet - Diesel Turbo

Sport
150bhp (or 165bhp with 2.0l diesel)
White sport speedo dials
Metal pedal caps
Sport seats
slightly lower suspension
generally different alloys
spoiler
chrome exhaust tip sticking out of rear bumper
Red brake calipers

Active Sport
Up to 120bhp
Metal pedal caps
Sport seats
generally different alloys
spoiler

As far as I know these are the differences between the specs.

The 165 won't have white dials.

It has stability control and the blue and me stuff as standard, also a wee red bit on the badge and a red multijet badge if its a 165 or the old 150 diesel. The 165 has tpms as well.

so she doesn't know how to use a handbrake and find the bite point on a clutch??
Of course she does. Read my post. "She has a fear" of doing it and having something like that would ease her mind a bit. Make her a bit less panicky. She's a capable driver. Any driving aid is good though right?

indeed, as long as she still is able to drive without it. it doesn't always kick in.
drivings aids are no substitute for skill or ability (y)

I think hill holder is only reliable on steeper inclines and so long as you really press the brake really firmly, in day to day driving I never notice it and indeed if I didn't know for certain that it was fitted I'd never have noticed it at all.

Thanks for the advice guys - I had Hill-Holder on my 159 - handy device once you are used to it. Jack - may well be interested if you want to send me some details?.....

Thanks for the advice too chaps, im wanting to move on from my 120 Active Multijet to a 150 Multijet Dynamic or Sport.

Im hoping to get 2k - 2.5k for my 07 plate (79k) having just spent £600 on a full service/Cam Belt change/2 front springs replaced. My question please........will the suspension on the Sport be massively noticeable in terms of stiffness compared to my current Bravo?

Any1 have brake squeals from the bravo I hate the noise wen stoping have my brakes gone just bought car from fiat dealer. !! 15000 09 plate
