Hi,
The speedo clock is very noisey, I have tried lubing both cables but still noisey, I have tried the clock on its own with a drill and it seems ok, I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems,
Thanks Tony

Hi Tony,

I do not have the same problem on my X which is 89 GF also (but then again she has not been on the road for the last 12 months due to restoration!) but I do have a spare instrument panel if you want to borrow it to check that it is definiately not the speedo causing the noise.

I live in Wicklow but pass limerick a fair bit as part of the job and can drop somewhere for you if you like.

Speak soon.

Leo.

Digger - as you say you've lubed both cables, then guessing you've removed the inners so ruled out snags/breakages? If not, then a clicking noise at the speedo (and usually matched by a juddering needle) is the first sign of impending doom for one of the cables. if so then best to replaced both inner and outer to be on safe side (they can come in slightly different lengths as well so a new inner may not match your current one).
