General speedo vision

Hi, We just got our multipla, which we are very pleased with.
I found with normal driving I have difficulty reading the speed because the background of the speedo is grey and the red pointer does not show clearly.
Is it possible to dismantle so I can paint the pointer white?
Or another solution perhaps?

Hi again, It a bit better nowadays as we have to drive with litghts on so the speedo is illuminated, but I still want to paint the pointer at some time.
How do I take the cover off and the speedo out PLEASE?
Its a 2005 mk2
