I think you'll find it's "fly by wire" rather than a Bowden cable.

The speedo unit is b%&$%&!! expensive too - it was the last straw with the Tipo we used to have:
it failed in a cloud of RED smoke - most impressive.

Somewhere in the 200 - 300 UKP region ISTR.
