Shite ! I left the car into a Fiat dealers and guess what ? It turns out that it's NOT a cable broken but a whole big expensive part behind the dash that according to a mechanic "converts mechanical signals into electrical impulses"
The damn car is 20 months old and this part could cost a couple of hundred quid. It's already cost me £30 just to find out that it's broken ! ! !
Now, it broke on the turn of the century....y2k bug ? ? Beware, renew your warranty.

p.s. if any in Ireland knows of a totalled Bravo where this motor or whatever it is may be okay, please respond.

It sounds like they wanna make some cash

Swerve,

As far as I know, ALL Bravos have electronic speedo units connected to the gearbox via a moulded connector.
I had same problem and it ended up being cracked housing - cost a couple of quid.
