Technical Speedo bouncing in and out of service...

I recently changed the starter on my dad's X1/9, and ever since then, the speedometer will stop working every now and then. It usually stops working under hard acceleration and/or uphill driving, and then won't start working again until you get on the brakes hard. I unscrewed the assembly at the transmission, and lubricated it a bit, and put it back together, but it still doesn't work consistently. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

it may just be time to get a new speedometer cable, & working on the car was just a fluke....check again at the tranny and make sure everything is cool, its probably just somthing small.
