Hi Guys.
First post.
My Sporting Speedgear, which I've had for 7 years and without doubt the most reliable car I've ever had, until last Tuesday.
I have read through (the best I can) on gearbox failures but cannot find similar symptoms.
I noticed it would thud when put into D, and after about 5 miles I could hear the gearbox slipping, and then the gearbox failure light illuminated and it seemed to go into limp mode but it did run better but judder from driving off.
Reverse was OK.
Now, it thuds and judders in reverse and there is no drive in D.
The fluid looks OK and was changed 7k miles ago.
I can't believe the gearbox would just fail without warning.
Ideas please?
Thanks

It is with deep regret that I have replaced the FIAT with Peugeot 207 automatic.
However, wife says not to sell it although there are now four cars on my small drive.
I really want to repair it because it has been so reliable and still looks dead smart even tthough it is a 2001 model.
The Peugeot gearbox isn't a patch on the FIAT cvt.
