hi all i have a intermitant rev counter that either shows incorrect revs or nothing at all or just flickers, i have been told this could be the speed rpm sensor that fits onto the gearbox is this right ??? also if this is faulty would it explain lack of power sometimes as its not talking to ecu??? and how do you access this sensor ???
any help would be great please as im a new owner .

The engine speed sensor connects to the engine ECU and is essential for the correct operation of your engine. If your car runs OK, I don't think it is responsible for you rev counter problem. The ECU sends RPM info to the instrument panel via the Body Computer over a VAN or CAN data bus. Older cars use the VAN bus, newer models the CAN bus. The info is in digital data form so either your instrument panel is receiving invalid data, or valid data which it is unable to decode properly.

I suggest you check all the wiring connections going into your instrument panel.
