Wanting some new speakers just wondered if anybody had these or new what they were like?

Personally i would spend a little more if you can.

Also coaxials are more recommended in the back than components.

I've got a set of 180w 6x9 components on the shelf powered by an amp and 10" 350w Vibe box. These with the speakers I have already got sound good, I just wanted something to make it sound a little clearer and sharper to the top end range.

What did you mean about the co-axials. You mean not to have thme as components or to have them as componets.

Sorry for this, not really techanically minded when it comes to stereo systems.

Firstly sell the 6x9's

Use the amp you have to power the components in the front and fit coaxials in the rear.

The difference between components and coaxials is that components have the tweeter seperate from the main speaker (usually with a crossover), which allows you to adjust the position of it up front. (i think it has something to do with sound stage, but thats beyond my knowledge )

Coaxials on the other hand have the tweeter fixed in the center of the speaker.

I've got a third amp that can power the front conponents up. Dont know if I would need a power cap tho.

Why sell the 6x9s???

6x9's are rubbish if i am honest, the sound quality is poor.

People seem to always use them as a substitute for a sub, but if you look at the frequency response (the range of sounds it can play). They start thier range at around 120hz, where bass notes can be as low as 20hz (and believe me 20hz-120hz is a big range in sound terms ).

As for a power cap, don't even go there , another gimmick that is very popular but doesnt work.

I know they dont replace the bass box, I've got a vibe for that.

The 6x9 are 4way componants so do mid-low to mid where my bass box is set to low only.

I'm wanting speakers that will do Mid-high so thought the speakers I posted would have done me nicly.

Trust me, my 6x9 sound very nice, there not basey at all.

If you want to keep the 6x9's, i wouldn't bother with the rears, because as you have the 6x9's and the sub amped, i would have thought the rears would get drouned out.

I would put both lots of cash together and get a quality set of front components and amp them. They will make a huge difference to your sound.

I'm sure Tom, when he's on, will offer some better advice

Sorry mate..u r trying between sh**.Get urshelf a GOOD QUALITY set-like INFINITY 5X7 COMP.-and maybe later an amp/sub and forget cheap watts and size.Ear is a great organ to be fooled!!

GOOD QUALITY 5X7 with a decent head unit [1 stage] dont need amplification unless u r deaf.Just buy dedicated cables + a good quality cd to spot the difference.

Sorry, mate, but if U'r looking 4 a Quality in sound, U need an amp. It's not ment just for making Ur neighbours pissed, it improoves the Q in lower levels of listening.
Trust me, the sound from the radio in never soo good that the sound from the amp. Why U thin the good amps are soo expensive? Otherwise they would make the radios with 4x100W RMS

You are right mate,but this is an entry level situation so i insist that it is better to buy a good quality h.u. rather than a poor quality one+amp as all amp. stages -regardless price-do add distortion.Agree with this?

I never said That I had a poor quality stereo.
It the sony 1 wid the black out screen. It cost me £350.

How many amps can you have b4 it start taking it toll on the battery and alternator???

I've got 1 for the 6x9. Thats 400w

1 built into the sub, thats 600w

I've got a 200w that I am going to use for the front.

Just wondered if another one for the back would be too much??

I'm guessing with that lot, you are pulling about 350w rms. In my head thats around 50amps, so your battery and alt should be fine.

How many HiFi speaker manufacturers (Monitor Audio/B&W...)use the oval shape speaker in their range?
Non.
I thought they were just for the space saving, budget, better quality illusion.

Spend decent money on comps for the front and run them from the amp and you will really benefit from it. Sound deaden the doors thoroughly and use decent speaker wire to the amp.

Agreed about the HU, but unless you spend £300 or more I don't think you'll notice. You get MP3 and bags of display features for more money not better players.
