Technical spare key

I only have 1 blue key for my 2001 brava.

Can I just get a blank cut or is there some sort of immobiliser chip in the key?

Update:
Looking at another post, it looks like it does have a chip : 1999 - 2002 2x blue master keys
Is the only option giving both arms and legs to the main dealer?

There is an immobiliser chip. Originally there would have been a "red key" to allow new keys to be coded to the car.

However, worth trying an independent auto locksmith - they can do clever things and may be able to clone the existing chip into a new key.

You'll get very little interest from main dealers!
