sounds like a kettle boiling

ive installed a new pioneer dvd system to my bravo however when im driving i get interference sounds like a kettle boiling only very faint but this system cost me a fortune and i want quality sound. any ideas what the cause might be, possibly a bad earth?

Large no. of possibilities Ranging from bad connections, bad earth like u said right up to water in the connections.

First thing is to check that all connections are solid and earth has paint scratched away round the edge for better contact. It could also be that the speaker wires are running too close to the power cables. In either case its probably worse when you go around corners? Try those, then let us know and well think of some other ideas.

another thing to add is that it doesnt make this sound when the engine is not running. also it stops when i put the clutch in (definately noise from system thou doesnt happen when its not on).appricate your help might go about running power cables down other side of dash.

Clutch throws me?

Has it got a built in speaker. If so try wiring it direct to the battery with the cables miles away from everything. ie put the player in the ngine bay if you know what i mean and connect the earth to the light mounting or something. Thats all it can really be apart from a dodgy player? It not got any settings on it that uve got wrong, coz they can cause funny things. Sorry i cant help any more than that.

I'm not too up on the subject but from what I know the car's alternator can cause interference with audio systems. Maplin do a DC Noise Suppressor rated at 20A, should do the trick plus it's only £4.99, have a gander here

Unfortunately I don't know :| From the FAQ on the site, "red is input, blue is output and black is ground". Means nothing to me really as Im not into car audio. It would depend on your system and how it is wired etc.. Sorry I can't be much more help, after all, I just work there

Bit off topic, but one of my tour busses has this problem intermittently, that I work on so i'm going to have a fiddle next week.

just bought this today and was the most easiest thing i ever installed (bout 30 secs to do)
eliminated all whirring and buzzing and god knows wat other sounds
the car doesnt seem like its gooin to take off any more as the accelrator is pressed

basically, it fits in between ur headunit and your amp so in other words...

you got the rca coming out of the headunit u stick that bit into the "ground loops isolator" in the one end

then u stick the amp rca into the other end of the "ground loop isolator"

this is great because all my wirring goes through the left side of car power/cables/speaker cables so funny noises are naturally expected but with this 7.99 device all irrating sounds gone

if i havent made myself clear about fitting do tell
