:bang: On my 1100 Uno there's a noise like my left C.V. is wasted, but I've replaced it and the noice is still there. When I accelerate in 1st and 2nd gear it is very noisy. I've also replaced my bearing. Everyone says that the noise comes from the left hand side, but could it be that it's actually something from the right? What could be sounding like a C.V.!!!!

Maybe a gearbox bearing? With the engine running and your foot off the clutch listen for any noises, then push down the clutch and see if the noise goes away. Any noises that stop at this stage are gearbox noises and are probably the input shaft bearing. This bearing can get real noisy when under load.

Someone also told me that it could be a busted gearbox-mounting... I think I'm gonna drive with the car untill something breaks, then I will know what it was...

You say sounds like CV now you mean a contiuos clicking sound u usually tell if a cv is duff by drivin on full lock [in a circle] u get click click click etc the other noise is a clunk when u start in 1st and thats wear in the splines on the drive shaft going into cv so which noise u got

hi, it's my brothers car, see what happens, is when you pull away in 1st and you give it stick it makes the exact same noise as a wasted cv, already renewed the cv and the wheel bearing but the noise is still present, so i think it could be those bearing thingies that goes into the box or some bearing in the box.

OK nowmovin 2 the other end [gear box side] different methods of conection are used by maufacturers some use a hardy spicer type conection looks like a cross and on each arm and on each arm there isa circular needle bearing if u got a manual check see what u got (y)

same as the one u described here, the one with 3 arms and needle bearings

well if its the driveshaft that defo making the noise only 2 options and u said the cv has been replaced well have a good look at the 3 leg hardy spicer see if theyre dry any excess movement simple to replace would be worth dueing while shaft is out anyway (y)

they would be lubericated as they go into the gearbox and is permenantly submerged in gearbox oil.

Yes correct mate brain not functionin today lot on m y mind (y)

I hope Manticore looks at my car as he promised... He usually charges me money for work.

Yeah we had one of those tripod type joints die on us once. All three of the outer races of the bearings had come off and the needle rollers were all through the gearbox (most of them probably still are  ) It made a hell of a racket and when you started off it made a clunk which could be heard from a car driving along side... Dont worry too much about the needles if this turns out to be the problem as they just get mashed up in the gears and collect on the magnet at the bottom of the gearbox.

The joint is a simple job to replace if you have it out of the car. Just undo the circlip, swap joints, and put the circlip back on.
