finally gave up on my stilo had set me back over £600 after leaving it with fiat for them to tell me i have sticky valves and were looking at £400+ thats when i thought is it worth it no. part exchanged it they dont no the issue but shhhh :) and got my self a Renault Clio 1.6 VVT 111 Dynamique S will be getting it friday(and issues with renault please advice me lol). had some good times with the stilo time to move on though. just want to say fanks for evryone whos helped me with all my issues and ive had alot lol.

Leaving the Stilo is a wrench but time is a healer. After a year without the JTD I went to Renault (Megane 1.6) and although it never missed a beat it just lacked that oomphh that the Stilo had. However, like you I have gone to a Clio too and fun has returned to my life. I will post a picture in a bit.

thats very nice :p im picking mine up thursday test drove it and for a 1.6 i was gobsmacked so nippy but yet handled like a dream.

Good luck with that Benji! Hope it drives much nicer than that gutless 1.2 Clio hire car I had for a week when I was between Stilos last year! ;)

Having had two Stilos now - and having tested an '02 Megane before my first - I too think you're probably better off with the Clio than it's larger-sized sibling. My partner has earlier one and he's obsessed with Clio's, although he's crazy about Stilo's too (he works for an independent Renault dealership so he won't having one anytime soon though!). The trick with Renaults - like Fiats - is that the larger they get, the more problems they have and less fun to drive they are!

I'm a mere 48-odd hrs back from the Renault World Series day at Silverstone myself, and I wasn't too impressed with the facelift models - the Sport editions definately look so much better than the standard models - although as I mentioned elsewhere the new Laguna Coupe is very nice! I was amused by how much the new Megane looks like a Bravo! As I also mentioned elsewhere, it was a good opportunity to try out my new Boge/Bilstein/Eibach suspension and Mintex pads & discs setup I had fitted a few weeks ago though, muuuuch more fun... don't think my Toyo/Kuhmo's will last too long :D

Anyway you Renault defectors, have loadsa fun - I might well join you one day (I have the same ID on ClubClio as here, as I used to own one)...

Been looking into Renault Clio 182s and the like as my next car (amongst all the Jap stuff :p) and though they do have many of similar reliablity and dealership woes that Fiat do, I still fancy one.

I tried a phase 1 of the last version (think it was an '99 or 2000 car) and though it was pretty solid and the quite nippy, felt a bit less than fun. The 1.2 16v engine was nippy enough, but not as rev happy as my Stilo's. I guess it could've just been the hire car I was driving :chin:

Anyway though, hope you enjoy the new car and have less problems with it than you've had with the Stilo (y)

i pick it up friday they gave me £1100 part ex for my 1.2 16v stilo which supprised me. (they dont no about the valve problem they never asked lol). when i test drove it i was impressed ive gone through all sorts of hatchbacks in my time corsas escorts puntos te lot and so far this one beats them all nippy as hell handles great only downside i found was handling at speed was not great but ill drive slow :D
