General sometime's sluggish

Hi, I purchased a Ducato 2ltr jtd the other night, it felt sluggish driving back the 80 miles and worse on hills, it did the same the next day. The following day I drove it and straight away the power came back and drove brilliantly until this afternoon (ok in morning then decided to drive sluggish again), could anyone point me in the right direction regarding this fault. I had a jtd with same problem ie inter mitant power loss turned out to be airflow meter £40 on eBay and simple to replace hope this helps

What year? Sticking waste gate, sticking egr, sticking throttle body, air mass meter as mentioned, try disconnecting the air mass meter when its misbehaving.
