hi my car key snaped today in mc donalds on way through drive through only thing is it was in ignition called up for recovery , that was expensive so grabed a rac man and he hot wired the car and has told me to find a new barrel and steering lock and straped my key to a coder in the car can this be done or is it just some quick way just to get me moving again? any ideas appreciated

very easy to steal multiplas if u work for rac mine was started in under 2 mins (n) UNLESS IT IS ALL IN THE CODES OR SOME THING LIKE THAT

;) It's only easy to steal the Multipla if the transponder (I think it's called) in the key, is near the aerial thing around the barrel. If the key was no where near the car I think I am right in saying that he couldn't have got it started.

Have a look here, I explained it a bit better, lol!

Hope this helps!

Snapped multipla key in igniton

Happened to me a few months ago too.
Tried to dismantle the barrel but had no luck, virtually destroyed it in the process
Salvaged the switch base part, and just bonded a lump of Alloy to it temporarily to act as a 'key', with the chip from the broken key bonded to the sensor ring.
Must start looking for a secondhand barrel and key...
