Technical Snapped Gear Selector

Never thought this could happen, but the bar that connects the gear stick to one of the gear cables has snapped in the gear selector assembly. I can get hold of a replacement assembly but can I just pop off the old ball and socket joints, replace the gear stick assembly and pop them back on again or am I asking for trouble later?

Any ideas??

Hi,

Sounds like the same problem I had about a year and a half ago.

Sorted after some seriously dodgy welding and no problems to date.

I had the same problem, ended up with a reconditioned gear box at a considerable cost
